CRARR MET WITH UN INDEPENDENT EXPERT ON MINORITY ISSUES

Montreal, October 22, 2009 --- CRARR hosted a meeting with Ms. Gay McDougall, UN Independent Expert on Minority Rights, during her official visit to Canada.

At the private meeting scheduled held earlier today at the CRARR office, a dozen CRARR partners from community groups, labor unions and academic institutions discussed racism in employment, law enforcement, criminal justice, media and other public policy issues such as the trend towards the creation of a hierarchy of rights and ineffective civil rights enforcement.

Additional submissions to Ms. McDougall will be made in November, at her request.

Ms. McDougall's Exit Statement on Canada, delivered from Ottawa, is enclosed.
