HUMAN RIGHTS TRIBUNAL TO CASE OF BLACK INSPECTORS BY CALLED THE N-WORD BY DRIVER
Montreal, August 27, 2010 --- The Quebec Human Rights Tribunal will hold a hearing into the case of a Black inspector of the Montreal Transit Corporation (MTC) who was called the N-word by a driver of a towing company. The hearing will take place on Monday, August 30, 2010, at 9:30 AM, at the Montreal Courthouse, Room 13.03.

MARGUERITE-BOURGEOYS SCHOOL BOARD IN COURT FOR ANOTHER CASE OF ETHNIC DISCRIMINATION
Montreal, August 20, 2010 --- The Marguerite-Bourgeoys School Board will appear once again today before the Quebec Human Rights Tribunal in another case of ethnic discrimination in education (class reassignment and harassment), in which an Hispanic-Iranian youth was awarded $20,000 by the human rights commission.

BLACK MAN ORDERED TO COVER UP OR LEAVE AMUSEMENT PARK BECAUSE OF BOB MARLEY T-SHIRT
Montreal, August 19, 2010 --- A 32 year-old Black Montrealer was told ten days ago by security guards at La Ronde (Montreal's largest amusement park) to turn his tee-shirt inside out to hide a photograph of Bob Marley or risk expulsion.

CRARR'S DISCRIMINATION COMPLAINT MAY EXPAND PUBLIC HOUSING TENANTS' CIVIL RIGHTS IN QUEBEC
Montreal, August 17, 2010--- A civil rights complaint filed by CRARR last year on behalf of an Anglophone Black woman and her children, may expand the rights of all public housing tenants in Quebec, only if the Quebec Human Rights and Youth Rights Commission investigates the complaint more rapidly and diligently.

HEARING RESUMES IN THE CASE OF AGNAOU v. DEPUTY MINISTER OF JUSTICE
Montreal, August 6, 2010 --- Hearings on the appeal brought by a federal Crown prosecutor against the Department of Justice regarding systemic discrimination in employment will resume from September 27 through October 1 at the Federal Court, located at 30 McGill Street, Montreal.

ANOTHER POLICE ETHICS DECISION THAT REJECTS RACIAL PROFILING CLAIM: A TROUBLESOME PATTERN OF DERACIALIZATION
More information to come. Due to the Police Ethics Committee's conclusion regarding the racial profiling aspect of the complaint, which it dismissed due the Police Ethics Commissioner's inability to prove it, a more critical analysis of the decision will be forthcoming.

MONTREAL SCHOOL BOARD APPEALED HUMAN RIGHTS TRIBUNAL DECISION IN THE FILIPINO FORK AND SPOON CASE
Montreal, July 30, 2010 --- The Marguerite-Bourgeoys School Board filed this May with the Quebec Court of Appeal for leave to appeal a Human Rights Tribunal decision that found the School Board and two employees guilty of discrimination on the basis of ethnic origin.
